RESEARCH WARRANT · CLIPPING EXPLAINED
What is clipping?
Clipping is the practice of turning moments from longer videos into short-form posts for social platforms. A scene, interview, performance, or exchange becomes a standalone piece that can introduce a new audience to the full work.
Research Warrant’s primary product is focused, engaged viewership. We combine internal creative control with distribution through small pages, building clips to travel on their own merit and reach people with a real interest in the material. Retargeting is an added benefit of that engagement.
How traditional clipping campaigns work
In a common marketplace model, a brand or creator funds a campaign, supplies content and guidelines, and recruits independent clippers. Clippers edit and post to their own accounts, submit the links, and earn based on approved views. Discord communities help bring participants into these campaigns; platforms manage submissions, tracking, and payouts.
A payout based only on views does not necessarily reward audience relevance or sustained attention. A clipper can meet a view target without reaching people who are interested in the material or want to keep watching.
Examples of this model: CLIPPING’s campaign guide, Whop’s Content Rewards terms, and Reach’s public campaign hub.
When view counts lose sight of the audience
A campaign focused on volume can end up recycling the same creatives across broad audiences with little interest in the content. More posts and more exposure can raise the view count without earning deeper attention or reaching viewers who want to discover the full work.
Paying for views also creates an incentive to inflate the count through spam or artificial traffic. Whop and CLIPPING explicitly prohibit fake engagement and duplicate submissions. Those safeguards matter, but a legitimate view on its own says little about how deeply someone engaged.
How Research Warrant is different
Research Warrant builds campaigns around the quality and relevance of the viewership. Our small pages give each creative the opportunity to find an audience through the interest it generates. The content is built to travel on merit: people choose to watch because the material connects with them. That is the foundation of the focused, engaged viewership we work to deliver.
Creative quality stays under internal control
RW’s team controls which moments we select, how we shape the hook, and how much context an edit needs. Our internal systems let us coordinate production and publishing at scale while keeping creative quality and judgment inside the team. We use performance to refine the work as the campaign develops.
Small pages. Content that earns attention.
Our distribution strategy uses small pages that do not depend on a large existing following for virality. Each clip is built to travel because people find the content engaging. The goal is to discover an audience with an interest in the material itself, rather than assume that the followers of a broad, general-interest page are the right audience.
Measure how deeply people engage
Reach tells us how widely content traveled. Watch depth and meaningful engagement help show whether it held attention. We track those signals alongside the creative and publishing context, then use the findings to refine the next round. Clients receive clear analytics on the viewership and the content that earned it.
THE APPROACH IN PRACTICE
42M+ organic views. Approximately 100K unique visitors.
RW’s 45-day campaign for KevOnStage Studios connected a distributed clipping program with more than 42 million organic views and approximately 100,000 deduplicated unique visitors to the destination. Reporting both reach and traffic gives a clearer picture of what the campaign produced.
Our catalog research also examines the relationship between social discovery and observed streaming consumption, with the findings and limits of the comparison set out in the report.
A bonus: retargeting and lookalike audiences
Beyond the viewership itself, clients can also benefit from campaign audiences in their ad accounts. Where platform eligibility allows, qualifying engagement can support retargeting and serve as the starting point for lookalike audiences.
These tools give clients another way to build on the interest the content has already earned. They add value to a campaign whose primary product is focused, engaged viewers.
Start with the viewers you want to reach
Bring the content you want people to discover and the audience you want to engage. We can plan the creative, distribution, and measurement around earning attention from viewers who find the material relevant.
